HERMANN TROPHY

Our history

The Hermann Trophy is college soccer’s oldest and most prestigious award – soccer's equivalent of the Heisman Trophy.

Robert Hermann founded and was the first president of the National Professional Soccer League. The board created the Hermann Trophy, named in his honor for his work in bringing professional soccer to the United States.

For over 60 years, the Trophy has recognized the best male and female collegiate soccer players in the United States each year.

With annual awards since 1967, the Hermann Trophy has named over 100 winners. Many of these winners have gone on to play professionally in the MLS, NWSL, National Teams across the world, and multiple World Cups. As the list continues to grow, so to, does the legacy.
